Advisory engagements are forward-looking. They support improvements in systems and processes and focus on problem-solving activities. They are about adding value to operating management. Examples include conducting risk assessments, and participating on internal government committees in an advisory capacity.
Assurance audits focus on the adequacy or effectiveness of current or past performance and include operational audits, information system reviews, investigative assignments and compliance audits.
